  "One on one" Vocal Instruction

The focus of the voice lessons will be on learning techniques appropriate for each student's individual’s needs. Lessons begin with a warm-up and technique session. The student is then guided through performance repertoire, designed for his or her individual growth.

Students study:

  • musical notation

  • breath control

  • vocal placement

  • pitch control

  • ear training

  • harmony

  • blending voices

  • performance technique

What does “one on one” vocal instruction look like while practicing safe, social distancing?

I am offering two options for vocal instruction to cater to your comfort level.

Indoor Instruction:  I have a large living room at my residence where my student can safely sing 6-10 feet away from my piano.  All surfaces are cleaned before each lesson and I only see one student at a time.

Outdoor Instruction:  I have a deck and shaded patio where I can bring my keyboard outside to allow students to sing 6 feet away in an open, breezy environment.  Instead of entering my residence through the front door, students may choose to enter the backyard through a side gate.  All surfaces are cleaned before each lesson and I only see one student at a time.

"Small Group" Vocal Instruction

Students learn the same skills as they would with “one on one” vocal instruction, only they learn to harmonize and “hold their part” with other students in their group.  These classes will range from 3 to 7 students who are grouped together with similar skill levels.  My music selections are both fun and challenging.  This class culminates in a recital for family, friends, and neighbors.

  Audition Prep

Are you not getting the roles you want at auditions?  Sometimes, the cause might be as simple auditioning with the wrong song for your voice.  In my Audition Prep program,  I help students by choosing an appropriate vocal selection that fits with their music genre and vocal placement.  Students are also trained on how to "sell" their song with various performance techniques and movement, how to warm-up vocally and perfect their audition interview or "slate" .
